Todd’s Story

Todd - 4 Week Behavior Modification Program

We sent our 11-month-old Labrador retriever to a 4-week board and train with Jake. Before training, Todd was high maintenance and required our attention 24/7. He would bark at us until we did what he wanted, chew our furniture when he felt like we weren’t giving him want he wanted quick enough, and could generally be a huge pain in the butt at times. We could not walk without him pulling toward any single distraction (people, cars, other dogs). Todd is a very sweet and loving dog, but these behaviors made it hard to enjoy being around him.

After training, Todd’s indoor behaviors have completely shifted. No more barking, and if he gets into something he shouldn’t, a simple no and use of the e-collar gets the behavior to stop immediately. We can now take him on walks without having to brace ourselves, and the pulling has stopped completely. The changes in behavior are evident; he is still our Todd, but we are able to enjoy being with him every minute of the day!

When we first reached out to Jake, we were able to describe Todd’s behaviors and what we wanted to expect from him, and Jake automatically knew and described to us how reasonable our expectations were and how to get there. Based off the first conversation, we felt confident in our decision to send Todd to Town and Country K9. Jake sent us daily updates on how Todd was doing, where they went for the day, and what training was being implemented to meet our expectations. We are very grateful for the work Jake put in with Todd, and highly recommend Town and Country K9 training!
